Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life by using her vivid and expansive imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own music.
